Make Fear Disappear

The emotion of fear is a known experience to all. Whether it is rational or irrational, we all get to feel it. Although many times, it is not even necessary to have within us. All the more when it is not beneficial for our well-being as this causes a lot of stress on our bodies, releasing adrenaline and other substances which highly influence our bodily emotional and mental changes.


These days, you will probably find great amounts of books and therapies on dealing with fear or on how to work on them. Although, you will find very little effective information on getting to the very core of the fear manifesting in you. It will mostly only be focused on just getting the fear out of yourself, simply because this is not an emotion that we usually want to feel in our lives.

What most of us ideally want is to feel that we are safe and can live a rather stable life without having to fear anything that much. Well, 'good luck' with that... I assure you that your life will prove to be different. It is the nature of life to be unstable and be in constant change, in a never ending flux. This is the one and only thing that is stable in life.

So instead of desiring to live life in this imagination that does not match up to reality, we shall look at the very core of reality itself and see how to deal with fear in any context.

This will enable you to greet fear at any circumstance...

Take a moment to remember the last situation wherein you felt fear.
Take a look at it. What caused it and what kind of response did you expressed while experiencing it? Look at it very well and see it in a full view without trying to emit any part of that experience. You might find that even just by remembering it, you could almost start feeling it again right now. That is nothing unusual at all. The power of our attention is so great that you can bring back almost anything to an experiential level through simply focusing on it. In that sense, actually it is great that you could start feeling that fear again right now for practice.

Once you can sense it in you, take a look:

  • Is there any presence of something being completely detached from the experience even though it was a frightful one?
  • Is there some sort of part that is spacious, in which this experience can be manifested and observed?
  • If you can get to see this, take a look at this and see: Is this directly affected by it or is it itself merely watching what is happening?
If you are able to reflect on these questions openly and honestly, you may immediately have a different perception on your experience of fear. Wherever the fear will be, it will not be important to you anymore, because it will simply be seen in this spacious presence. In fact, it might feel that anything could be happening and it would still be of no matter to you.

If you are able to get to this point, you will see that fear is simply a phenomenon which can only occur to you only if you are identified with the one to whom it might be a direct effect. However, if you are simply being who you truly are, it will make not much of a difference. This is so because the fear will not be able to survive that long in a presence which does not put full attention to the experiencer, but rather, sees that both of them are not real and are only observed by reality itself.

If you feel fear, feel it in full intensity and invite it to be as strong as it can be. When you do so, that moment may be the right moment for you to become conscious of the one who sees it, not just the one experiencing it.

So in short, when the experiencer disappears, the fear will also disappear. Only pure Seeing is going to stay: something which can not disappear, something in which all of it and everything appears.
